Make Your Skin Smooth and Soft
One of the best compliments? Telling someone that they have soft or smooth skin. Here’s what you can do to ensure you’re receiving this compliment in the future!
Why Your Skin Gets Rough
One reason your skin may become rough could be because it’s overly dry. Dry skin can be caused by wide variety of factor, for example it could be due to a harsh acne treatment (which dries the skin), or, perhaps because you simply haven’t found a moisturizer that works for you.
The best way to keep your skin from getting rough is to learn to listen to it. Pay attention to how it responds to different moisturizers and creams. Your skin is unique – what works for someone else may not work for you.
That being said, one of the most common reason for rough skin that we have control over is that with time, your skin cells die. While many flake off naturally, others may cling to the surface of your skin. Have enough of these dead skin cells covering your body and your skin will feel rough to the touch.
How to Get Smooth Skin
To get soft skin, you need to do two things. First, you need to exfoliate regularly. Try using an exfoliating glove once or twice a week, depending on the season (winter is drier), your climate, and the natural dryness of your skin. Exfoliating will remove the dead skin cells from your face and body to leave your skin feeling noticeably smoother right away.
Secondly, after you’ve exfoliated, apply a moisturizer. Thanks to your exfoliating routine, you won’t have any dead skin cells, dirt, or oil blocking your pores, which will allow your moisturizer to penetrate deeply. This will keep your skin smooth for longer. As a side note – don’t over-exfoliate, or you may damage your skin.
How to Soften Feet
Remember, exfoliation should be a full body process. For most people, the soles of their feet are the roughest part of their body. That’s because the soles of your feet have the thickest layer of skin. A thick layer of skin means more dead skin cells, which in turn means you need to spend more time exfoliating the area.
This is particularly true if you’ve never thought to exfoliate your feet before – in which case you’ll need to exfoliate them on a daily basis until they become soft. You may want to soak your feet in hot water, or exfoliate them while you’re in the shower for the fastest route to smooth skin. After you’ve finished, apply a moisturizer, just as you would to your face. Repeat until your feet are soft to the touch!
